Grey Power is a Lobby Organization promoting the welfare and well-being of all those citizens in the 50 plus age group.
Our mission is to be the appropriate voice for all New Zealanders.
Lobbying, although quite often misunderstood, is a way of legitimately seeking to influence the path of policies that are of interest to those lobbying.
The New Lexicon Webster's Dictionary of the English Language defines lobbying as:
"a group of people trying to bring pressure to bear on legislators to pursue policies that are favourable to their interests".
To do this lobbyists try to influence legislators by continually seeking interviews, writing letters and generally bringing 'pressure to bear'.
Nelson Grey Power carries out lobbying in a variety of area's all of which will benefit people throughout New Zealand.

Law and Order

Privatisation
Nelson Grey Power's aims and objectives are listed below.
To advance support and protect the welfare and wellbeing of older people in a sustainable way.
To affirm and protect the statutory right of every New Zealand resident to a sufficient New Zealand Superannuation entitlement.
To strive for the provision of quality Health Care for all New Zealand residents regardless of income or location.
To oppose all discriminatory and disadvantageous legislation affecting rights, security and dignity.
To be non aligned with any political party and to present a strong united lobby to all Parliament and Statutory Bodies on matters affecting New Zealander.
To promote and establish links with kindred organisations.
To promote recognition of the wide-ranging services provided by senior citizens of New Zealand.
To gain recognition as an appropriate voice for all New Zealanders.
As a voluntary organisation, Grey Power was founded 25 years ago in the February of 1986.
Those involved in the early days were angry at the imposition of the surcharge on New Zealand Superannuation.
Originally formed as the Auckland Superannuitants Association, Grey Power has gone from strength to strength.
Today there are up to 90,000 financial members that stem from more than 76 Associations that are spread throughout the country.
Nelson Grey Power is one of these Associations
