The matters of concern that are discussed at these meetings with the Tasman District Council Mayor have to be made with the other two Grey Power Associations in mind.
This is to make sure we do not transgress in to their areas.
This does tend to restrict the conversations and also means our focus is not as wide as it could be.
In the perfect world these three Associations would sit down together and have a joint meeting with our Mayor.
Our next meeting with the Nelson Mayor, Aldo Miccio, is on 13th December to discuss matters of concern.
At present there are some issues with people requiring blood tests from the Stoke area. More about this later.
It is of concern that the numbers of people who are eligible for a rebate are not making an application to the Council.
We will be making people aware of this in both our Newsletter and Council will be running it in their Newsline.
This is an area that will have to be fully consulted on to make everyone aware of what the approach of both Council’s are at this point in time.
There does appear to be some differences in the thinking of the two Councils.
As this is an on-going issue we will update this issue as it progresses.
This is of concern because of the view of the irrigators and residential users.
It would appear at this time that the major contributor to the cost will be Tasman District Council.
The Ratepayers who are part of the water users club will be called upon to contribute to the repayment of the loan.
The Water Users Club are those Ratepayers who are supplied with water by the Council through Council owned infrastructure.
There does not seem to be any change of view of either Council.
It is of concern that the Hearing Commission keep on changing the time for release of their recommendations.
The worst possible scenario would be for the Commission to put the decision on hold for an indefinite period which would be detrimental for everyone, including both Councils.
It would appear that there will be very little change from the revaluation on the rates other than the Council’s annual increase.
